Marbelite Swimming Pools
Marbelite Swimming Pools
The Basics about Marbelite pools.
Marbelite is a mixture of sand and concrete this is sprayed onto surfaces at high speed.
The installation procedure starts by excavating the pool area of the yard according to the pool design, allowing an extra space in all directions for surfacing the bottom of the pool and to allow a lip across the perimeter for a work location.
Next plumbing is installed, along with a drain on the bottom of the pool and the right layout to make sure water flow throughout the pool.
Next, a steel rebar grid is installed around the entire inside of the pool, defining any steps, benches, spas and other features.
The rebar frame provides stability for the concrete.
Now it’s time to build the walls and floor with Marbelite.
Marbelite thickness can range based on size, shape, and depth of the pool, and workers will clean and shape it to achieve smooth walls, seats, steps, and floor.
Marbelite needs to cure for a period of time, relying at the installer, this may take up to a month, during which time the Marbelite will need to be hosed down every day with water in order to assist the curing process.
After the Marbelite has cured, decking, plumbing, pool equipment, and decorative touches can be worked on.
The last major step is adding plaster. Most often, this involves using a plaster with both a traditional white plaster coat and a finish containing various types/colours of combination. Plaster waterproofs the pool and helps create a smooth surface.

Long Lasting pools
If you’re looking at a pool as a long-term investment, then you definitely want to keep a Marbelite pool in mind.
When built through a reputable pool builder, a concrete swimming pool will last several generations. but like with all things, it needs to be taken care of especially in regards to water chemistry.
A Marbelite pool may require some renovating after 10-20 years’ time. If the waterline tile and coping are looking a little dated, they may be changed, the pool lining may be acid washed and with a bit of effort you can have a modern pool.
Perfect Pools Sandton specialise in revitalising old concrete pools and giving them a brand new lease on life.
